Sahirrah Safit
Sahirrah, the Founder and Director of FAT CAT THEATRICS, is no stranger to the world of theatre education. Her love and commitment to the arts and transformative power of theatre has been the driving force behind the creation of this innovative company.
A Scholar and
Theatre Enthusiast
Sahirrah's journey began with a Singapore National Arts Council Scholarship, setting the stage for her fulfilling career. In 2012, she proudly earned her BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts with an Acting Major from the University of Essex, United Kingdom. This academic foundation ignited her passion for theatre and its potential to inspire and empower.
Dedication to Theatre Arts Education
At FAT CAT Theatrics, Sahirrah's dedication to theatre arts education takes centre stage. She's shared her knowledge and passion with over 30 schools for more than 15 years, leaving an indelible mark on students' creative journeys. Her teaching portfolio extends from directing SYF (Singapore Youth Festival) productions to crafting engaging enrichment programs, immersive camps, and comprehensive lesson plans.
A Decade of Theatrical Excellence
With over a decade of experience, Sahirrah’s theatrical journey has been dynamic and multifaceted. She has graced the stage as a performer, taken on the roles of director and producer, and expertly managed productions. Her theatrical footprint spans both local and international theatre companies and production houses.
A Champion of Collaboration
Sahirrah firmly believes that theatre is about collaboration. Her extensive experience working with multiple theatre and education companies, serving as a director and advisor, has instilled in her a deep appreciation for the importance of collaboration with artists from diverse fields. She recognizes that the arts can provide students with a holistic and enriching experience, and she's committed to fostering these partnerships for the benefit of her students.
2023 Asian Youth Theatre Festival Director
In addition to her repertoire, Sahirrah is honoured to serve as the Festival Director of the 2023 Asian Youth Theatre Festival in Ilo Ilo, Phillipines. This role reflects her commitment to fostering youth talent and promoting cultural exchange through theatre on an international scale.
